Bytes Managed Solutions partners with Fusion Transactive
April 2011
Fusion Transactive, a New Zealand-based global supplier of systems to the retail oil industry has entered into an exclusive partnership with Bytes Managed Solutions, a provider of solutions for companies that engage in high-volume business transactions. The partnership enables Bytes to provide an end-to-end value proposition to the South African fuel sector.
"Fusion Transactive has over 30 years’ experience in this industry and has a complete service offering for retail fuel environments,” says Koot de Klerk, strategic account manager at Bytes Managed Solutions. “This new venture compliments our growth strategy into adjacent markets and we are looking forward to taking our combined capabilities into this sector. Fusion Transactive was looking for a major services & support partner who is a leader in the RSA market. Their capability is further complimented with our sole distribution of NCR products in South Africa, which provides assisted and self-service solutions for the retail sector. Together, Bytes MS, Fusion Transactive and NCR will bring a whole new offering and positive experience to fuel retailers."
The offering is flexible and will comprise of Fusion Transactive’s G5 Automation and Site management software, NCR hardware, and installation, support and maintenance services. Financing will be provided where necessary by sister company Fintech.
"The philosophy behind Bytes and Fusion Transactive is similar, which will make it easy for both companies to work together," says Brian Ryan, Chief Marketing Officer at Fusion Transactive. "Together, we will provide a complete service offering consisting of payment, point-of-sale, back office and head office systems and forecourt controllers for our customers."
Fusion Transactive has been doing business in South Africa for more than 20 years. Its PEC Model 8850 control system for fuel dispensers, which has set the standard for the industry, is the most widely used in the local market. Although Fusion’s new software is hardware-agnostic and can run on any platform, NCR’s RealPOS series will be the preferred solution offered locally.
"Even more than two decades ago the system was fraud and virus-proof, and it remains a market leader to this day," Ryan notes. "Our G5 software is even better than our PEC 8850 system."
Sadoo Chatty, Commercial Manager – South Africa for Fusion Transactive, adds that the partnership gives clients a one-stop-shop and that they will now have one point of contact and deal directly with Bytes.
"The strength of the package is not only its scalability – from a single POS controller up to enterprise management systems and controls, but also its reliability in all types of settings. This is especially important as we are planning to roll out the solution in a number of harsh African environments," adds Chatty.
Fusion Transactive is a world leading supplier of site automation and payment systems to the retail oil industry globally with significant product installations in Africa, India, Middle East, South East Asia, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and South America. 11 January 2011
Greenstone Energy today said a decision to replace all point of sale systems across its
Shell-branded service stations and truck stops would enable it to deliver even better
service to customers and provide a platform for new technologies.

replace all point of sale systems at company operated service stations and selected truck stops nationwide.
Greenstone's General Manager of Retail, Mark Forsyth, said the $10m investment in new technology will

"We've listened to our customers and have committed to a number of initiatives which will enable better
service. One component of this commitment to giving our customers what they want is replacing our point of sale technology.
"The technology developed by Fusion Transactive not only makes it faster to process a customer
transaction, it gives us a future proof platform to lower our costs which we can then pass on to our
customers in the form of lower prices" he said.
Fusion Transactive was selected by Greenstone as a result of a competitive tender process.
"Fusion Transactive is an innovative New Zealand company that is consistently first to market with world-class
state of the art technology. Their commitment to customer satisfaction equals our own and we are excited to
be partnering with them," said Mark Forsyth.

initiatives, developing many "first in world" products.
Sir Peter Maire said Fusion Transactive was delighted to be partnering with New Zealand's leading locally-owned fuel retailer.
"This announcement demonstrates Greenstone's commitment to investing in New Zealand and to delivering an innovative,
user-friendly, cost-effective and streamlined service, which translates into a better experience for its customers," he said.
The new point of sale technology will be piloted by 30 June 2011, with a full rollout commencing after then.
